I. General Overview

The CPC Central Committee with the Chairman Xi as the core attaches great importance to the inheritance and communication of fine traditional Chinese culture.
The Digital Convergence Laboratory of Chinese Culture Inheritance and Global Communication, with the double world-class key construction institution "Experimental Center of Chinese Culture Inheritance and Global Communication" as the main body, the national key first-level discipline Chinese Language and Literature (the fourth round of discipline evaluation as A) as the leading discipline, integrates journalism and communication, software engineering and other characteristic and advantageous disciplines. Centering on the important issue of "Chinese culture inheritance and global communication", we will promote interdisciplinary development under the background of new liberal arts. The laboratory uses innovative digital integration as technological means to promote the protection, inheritance, innovation and cross-cultural communication of excellent cultural classical heritage including language, symbols and literature.
Ⅱ. The Existing Foundation
(I) Main body Foundation: The "Experimental Center of Chinese Culture Inheritance and Global Communication" has been established in 2017.
Since the 18th CPC National Congress, the CPC Central Committee has attached great importance to the inheritance and communication of fine traditional Chinese culture. The Chairman Xi Jinping pointed out at the National Conference on Publicity and Ideological work, "spelling out the Chinese traditional culture fully is the outstanding strength of the Chinese nation and our strongest cultural soft power".
In 2017, led by Prof. Cao Shunqing, the distinguished Professor of Sichuan University, the academic Dean of School of Literature and Journalism of Sichuan University, the Academician of European Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Experimental Center of "Chinese Culture Inheritance and Global Communication" (hereinafter referred to as the Experimental Center) was established on the basis of years of profound accumulation of liberal arts experiments and research development in Sichuan University. Cooperate with Sichuan University's double world-class discipline group "Chinese Language and Literature and Global Communication of Chinese Culture" to carry out first-class discipline construction, promote the intersection of arts and sciences, and build a three-dimensional communication system of Chinese culture in the context of globalization.
The Experimental Center of Chinese Culture Inheritance and Global Communication consists of three experimental research sub-platforms which respectively focus on promoting digital humanity experiment, virtual simulation experiment, language big data and symbol cognition experiment. The laboratory center has special operating fund for the maintenance and operation of the central laboratory every year. Daily management has realized informationized, institutionalized and standardized, equipped with full-time laboratory personnel engaged in laboratory operation maintenance and management.
1. Foundation of laboratory development:
In 1981, Sichuan University initiated the liberal arts laboratory to establish a journalism laboratory integrating news photography, television photography and television broadcasting in the journalism major, providing experimental teaching services for the main courses of journalism major. Subsequently, library and information laboratories, archaeological laboratories and so on have been established, gradually forming a liberal arts experimental teaching model with the comprehensive quality and ability training of talents as the core. During this period, after the construction of "523 Laboratory Project" and other projects of Sichuan University, in September 2006, based on the forward-looking thinking of the cultivation mode of innovative liberal arts talents and the construction of experimental teaching system, taking Chinese language and literature, journalism and communication as the main disciplines, on the basis of the construction of the university's liberal arts related professional laboratories, with the advantages of the university's liberal arts, A comprehensive experimental center for liberal arts has been established.
In May 2016, Sichuan University, as one of the four universities in China, was approved to be the first batch of entrepreneurship and innovation demonstration bases. During the construction process, the National Development and Reform Commission and Sichuan University invested more than 10 million yuan in entrepreneurship and innovation to build experimental platforms for humanities, arts and new media, cultural inheritance and innovation, give full play to the advantages of interdisciplinary integration, and take "entrepreneurship and innovation" as the goal. To build a liberal arts comprehensive innovation and entrepreneurship experimental education system, create a multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary innovation and entrepreneurship experimental platform, explore the liberal arts comprehensive innovation and entrepreneurship experimental talent training mode, to provide support for focusing on cultivating liberal arts innovative talents with innovation and entrepreneurship awareness and solid experimental skills.
Under the laboratory, there are new media creative Laboratory, computational linguistics Laboratory, eye tracker laboratory, digital editing, effect testing, visual communication, small studio, studio, CAVE Immersive film and television Laboratory, big data technology and other sub-laboratories. There are 36 full-time staff. The laboratory covers a total area of 2820 square meters, with more than 1800 sets of experimental instruments and equipment, with a total value of more than 23 million yuan.

(Ⅱ) The foundation of scientific research and interdisciplinary research
Discipline basis: Sichuan University is a state key university directly under the administration of the Ministry of Education and a high-level research-oriented comprehensive university in western China. The Sichuan University has a complete range of disciplines, covering 12 disciplines such as liberal arts, science, engineering, medicine and art, which provides a good foundation for the laboratory to promote interdisciplinary studies under the background of new liberal arts. Among them, the leading department of the laboratory is Sichuan University Chinese language and literature which has a long and brilliant history of more than 120 years. In the 1960s, it began to recruit postgraduate students. In 1981, the History of Chinese Literary Criticism led by Yang Mingzhao was awarded the first doctoral program of Chinese universities. In 1988, the doctoral program of Chinese History was selected as one of the first national key disciplines, and then classical Chinese philology, comparative literature and literature and art were successively approved as national key disciplines. In 2007, Chinese Language and Literature of Sichuan University was rated as one of the five national key disciplines of Chinese Language and literature. In the fourth round of discipline evaluation, it was evaluated as A Class A discipline. In 2017, "Chinese Language and Literature and Chinese Culture Global Communication Discipline Group", as the leading discipline construction, was selected as one of the 12 first-class subject groups in Sichuan University, carrying out the double world-class construction.
Cross congregation: The leading disciplines and main participating disciplines of the laboratory are the fusion of the dominant disciplines of "Chinese Language and literature, journalism and communication, and computer software Engineering", forming the cross of the University of Arts and Science, with unique leading advantages and subject advancement. Under the overall arrangement of "Information + cultural creativity", the disciplines of Chinese Language and literature, journalism and communication and software engineering carry out interdisciplinary scientific research cooperation between arts and sciences. Make full use of the advantages of software development, AI network new technical support, modern digital technology and practical practice, scientific research reform and innovation to promote the inheritance and dissemination of cultural creativity. At present, the key collaborative research platforms include "National Defense Key Subject Laboratory of Visual Synthesis Graphics and Image Technology", Sichuan Province "Intelligent System Key Laboratory", "Knowledge Engineering and Network Intelligence Key Laboratory", "Network Big Data Cognitive Analysis Engineering Laboratory".
Basic data: The Sichuan University has a wealth of text, text, audio and video databases. The library of Sichuan University has a collection of 8.19 million volumes of paper literature, 325 electronic literature databases (113 in Chinese and 212 in foreign languages), 2.815 million volumes of electronic books in Chinese and foreign languages, and 118,000 kinds of electronic journals in Chinese and foreign languages. 122,000 hours of audio and video. As the "National key protection unit of Ancient Books", the library has 268,000 rare collections of ancient books, including various manuscripts and transcriptions since the Tang Dynasty, as well as a considerable number of engraved copies from the Song and Yuan Dynasties. He collects a large number of books and newspapers in Chinese and foreign languages before the founding of the People's Republic of China, especially those published during the Anti-Japanese War. In recent years, by strengthening the construction of "Sichuan Restoration Center, a national center for the Teaching of Ancient Books Restoration Skills", the restoration, protection, collation and development of the featured literature resources in the collection have been strengthened.
Ⅲ. Function Positioning
Centering on the major national cultural strategy issue of "the inheritance and communication of Chinese excellent culture", the laboratory has formed a functional orientation of "big data sharing platform + intelligent communication means + cultural industry linkage" to realize cultural inheritance, innovation and cross-cultural communication.
(I) Functions of big Data Platform for scientific Research: Build a "Global sharing Platform for big Data of Chinese Culture" by digital means.
A three-dimensional digital cultural big data sharing platform featuring Chinese language, Chinese cultural classic symbols and Chinese cultural classics will be formed. In terms of literature objects, combined with the characteristics of the discipline, the following three areas are promoted:
(1) In terms of global communication documents of Chinese culture, the translation and introduction of classic Chinese cultural documents in English, German, Russian, French, Korean and other languages in the world, especially the countries along the "Belt and Road" will be comprehensively sorted out by digital humanities.
(2) To strengthen the digitalization and artificial intelligence technology means to organize the ancient language and image symbols of ethnic minorities, such as the ancient Yi and Bashu symbols outside the oracle bone inscriptions.
(3) To the urgent need to strengthen protection of rare classical documents, rare documents of the Republic of China, western ethnic minority documents and other aspects of the implementation of rescue protection and digital records. On the basis of the above work, a world-class and characteristic high-end cultural classical data platform is built.
(Ⅱ) Function of the Think Tank for External Communication of Chinese Culture: To build a "think tank for cross-cultural global Communication" with "wisdom + creativity".
"Promote the international communication capacity building, tell China's story and spread China's voice", improve the current "Chinese philosophy and social sciences in the international voice is still relatively small, is still in the situation of rational not to say, said not to spread."
Based on the precision communication of big data, the laboratory realizes the communication of Chinese culture through the creation of cultural creative IP. Strengthen cooperation with the laboratory's collaborative institutions Tencent Penguin New Media Academy, Zhisheng Software and China Academy of Science Fiction. Learn from the successful practice of Tencent's previous achievement "King of Glory", strengthen the cross-cultural global communication under the new situation through IP transformation of Chinese excellent traditional culture and diversified modern technological means such as science fiction, film, games and commodities.
Through scientific means, the laboratory provides think tank management, policy simulation and decision-making assistance, and provides reference for government policy research. With the help of an interdisciplinary network and sophisticated computing tools, the Center undertakes government projects, especially major issues related to the transmission of Chinese cultural excellence and global dissemination, as well as major issues involving complex social systems and behaviors, and plays a policy advisory role. By integrating academic resources from digital humanities research, virtual simulation and semiotics research, and through big data analysis and econometric models, the policy simulation and simulation of Chinese cultural inheritance and innovation are enhanced to form a unique policy consultation platform.
(Ⅲ) The function of industry-university-research linkage hub: to form the knowledge center and transformation hub of "industry-university-research linkage ecological chain of cultural industry".
The experimental center promotes multiple interactions among enterprises, social organizations and the public, and collaborates with Tencent Penguin College of New Media, Zhisheng Software, Toutiao, Cover Media, etc., to promote the transformation process of knowledge "industry-university-research-application". We actively use social media and network platforms to share ideas and disseminate knowledge with the public, and carry out offline education and promotion, including introducing the center's information, resources, and technological transformation of related projects and research results.
